Yes. We allow a maximum of one additional person in the vehicle as an observer, at an extra charge of $50 + 5% GST. Tell us when you book so we can plan the seating.

Typical Chilliwack-area single-lesson rates: 60 min (Focus), $80; 90 min (Core), $115; 2 hours (Mastery), $150 (all plus 5% GST). In Rosedale, Yarrow, Cultus Lake and nearby, lessons include a $15 travel adjustment. In Abbotsford & Agassiz, 90- and 120-minute lessons include a $20 travel adjustment. Yes. We offer 5, 10, and 15-lesson packages with up to 10% off the standard hourly rate (3% for 5 lessons, 5% for 10, 10% for 15 in Chilliwack and in Rosedale, Yarrow and Cultus Lake). Abbotsford packages are fixed-price.

Many students pay by Interac e-Transfer to info@rightofway.net or 604-701-9036; both are registered for e-Transfer, and our How to Pay page has the details. Depending on the booking path, you may also pay by credit card through our card processor (often shown as PayPal checkout, you do not need a PayPal account to use a card).
Include your full name in the e-transfer message so we can match payment to your booking.

Prepayment confirms your booking and holds your lesson time for you. It also reduces last-minute cancellations and no-shows.

Yes, payment must be completed within 24 hours after booking.
This helps keep the schedule accurate and ensures your lesson time stays reserved.

Nothing serious: your booking is cancelled automatically after 24 hours, and the time slot reopens for others.
No money will be charged, and there are no penalties, but please try to avoid this so the schedule stays fair for everyone.

Only outside central Chilliwack. Chilliwack lessons include free pickup and drop-off in Downtown Chilliwack, Sardis, Promontory, Vedder Crossing, Garrison Crossing and Fairfield Island. Lessons in Rosedale, Yarrow & Cultus Lake, and in Greendale, East Chilliwack and Columbia Valley, include a $15 travel adjustment in the listed price. Yes. Digital receipts are automatically issued after payment and can be used for insurance or tax purposes.

Pay the full package amount to receive the package rate. Credits become available after payment is received and the purchase is confirmed. Sending an e-transfer or selecting pay later does not activate the credits by itself.

No, the lesson vouchers remain on your account; you can book them one at a time as you go. Booking early makes it easier to get the days and times you want.

Package vouchers apply to the session length you purchased (60 / 90 / 120 minutes, see your package in the booking system). Book the matching service type; if you want a different focus (for example exam prep topics), tell your instructor at the start of the lesson.

All packages are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Any unused lessons remaining after this period will expire and are non-refundable.

Lessons can't be transferred to people outside your household, but if you'd like to share them with a family member who lives at the same address, that's perfectly fine.

Just let us know in advance who will be taking the lesson, so we can update the student information.

For an individual lesson, choose your area and lesson under Services & Pricing, then select Book Online and follow the booking steps. For a package, select Buy This Package first. After payment is received and the package is activated, book its matching lessons separately using the same account and check that a package credit is applied. Already have a lesson package?

Yes. You can book several lessons at once to secure your preferred days and times.

Yes, as long as you do it at least 24 hours before your lesson. If you cancel later (for example, 10 hours before), the lesson will be counted as used.

1. Cancel the lesson on our website.
2. If it came from a package, that's all: the lesson goes back into your package automatically.
3. If it was a single paid lesson, contact our office by email or phone to tell us whether you'd like a refund or prefer to keep it as a credit for your next lesson.

To use a credit, book your next lesson online, choose a payment method but don't pay, and confirm the booking. Then, within 24 hours, tell us which lesson you cancelled and which new lesson the credit is for, and we'll confirm it by hand. Without that message the unpaid booking is cancelled automatically after 24 hours.

Missed lessons without notice are considered used and are non-refundable.

If a lesson is cancelled by ICBC or by us (for example, due to weather or car maintenance), you'll receive a full credit or refund, your choice.

Start with a Core Session (90 minutes). No experience is needed. Your first lesson starts on quiet residential streets, at your pace, and the instructor has a full second set of controls the whole time.

We pick you up, go over the car and controls together, and start with simple driving on calm streets: steering, smooth braking, and easy turns. You will actually drive on your first lesson, with no pressure to be fast or perfect. It ends with a short, honest recap of what to work on next.

Yes. The training car is a dual-control Toyota Corolla Hybrid with a second steering wheel and instructor-side gas and brake pedals. If anything unexpected happens, the instructor can steer and brake instantly. That keeps first lessons calm for you and safe for everyone around the car.

Completely normal. Many of our students are adults learning for the first time or returning after years away from driving. Lessons move at your pace, there is no judgment, and the dual-control car takes most of the fear out of the early hours behind the wheel.

Right of Way lessons are taught by a licensed professional driving instructor who holds a Driver Training Instructor Licence and operates a dual-control training vehicle. Our instructor team is licensed to provide driver training in British Columbia.

Yes, this is mandatory. You must have your Class 7L in your possession for your first lesson. This allows you to legally operate the vehicle under the supervision of our licensed professional instructor.

Please bring:

• Your valid BC Learner's Permit (7L) or Driver's Licence (7/5).
• Prescription glasses or contacts, if required for driving.
• Comfortable, closed-toe shoes suitable for operating pedals.

All our training vehicles are equipped with automatic transmission, which is the standard for most students taking the Class 7 or 5 road test.

Generally, no. We use dual-controlled, insured training vehicles for maximum safety. If you have a specific need to train in your own vehicle, please contact us first to discuss insurance and instructor requirements.

This varies by student, but ICBC recommends at least 60 hours of practice. For structured training, we typically recommend a minimum of 5 to 10 lessons, depending on your current experience level.

You must bring two pieces of ID to the ICBC office:

1. Primary ID: Passport, Canadian Birth Certificate, or Permanent Resident Card.
2. Secondary ID: BC Services Card, Driver's Licence, or SIN card.

If you are not a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident, you must also bring your valid Work Permit or Study Permit (or other legal status document) along with the IDs listed above.

Don't worry, it happens! ICBC requires mandatory waiting periods before you can re-test:

• 1st Failed Attempt: Wait 14 days (2 weeks).
• 2nd Failed Attempt: Wait 30 days (1 month).
• 3rd Failed Attempt: Wait 60 days (2 months).
• 4th Attempt and Beyond: Wait 60 days (2 months).

Yes. Our Road Test Car Rental + Warm-Up includes a warm-up lesson immediately before the test, and the use of our dual-control car for the test itself. If you only need the car for a test at the Chilliwack ICBC office, Car Only is $150 plus 5% GST.

ICBC often requires booking several weeks to months in advance, especially in the Chilliwack/Abbotsford area. We recommend booking your test time as soon as you feel confident and then scheduling your final lessons accordingly.

Highway practice is built into regular lessons rather than sold as a separate course. When your level allows, we make Highway 1 work (merging, lane changes at speed, exits) the focus of a Core Session or Mastery Session. Start with the highway driving guide to see when you’re ready.

ICBC's Graduated Licensing Program (GLP) requires you to hold your L licence for 12 months before taking the Class 7 N (Novice) road test. For the N stage, drivers under 25 need 24 months of safe driving, or 18 months if they completed an ICBC-approved GLP course during the learner stage; ICBC states drivers 25 or older need 12 months. You face strict penalties. Violations can lead to fines, accumulating demerit points, and potentially having to restart the full term of your L or N stage in the Graduated Licensing Program.

Yes. Your driving record (or driver abstract) can be requested directly from ICBC to provide proof of your experience for insurance companies.

No, that is a myth. Most school zones in BC are enforced from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on school days only. Always obey the posted signage, as this is a high-risk failure point on a road test.

School Zones are active only on school days (typically 8 a.m.–5 p.m.). Playground Zones are active every day from dawn until dusk. Speed limits are typically 30 km/h in both.

You cannot rely exclusively on a backup camera. You must still perform shoulder checks and 360° visual checks using your mirrors and looking over your shoulder. The camera is only a supplemental aid.

Yes, absolutely. ICBC examiners expect clear shoulder checks before lane changes, turns, and parking manoeuvres. Missing shoulder checks can lead to serious marks or a failed road test.

Before putting the vehicle into reverse, you must physically look all around the vehicle (front window, mirrors, both sides, and turning your body to look out the rear window) to ensure all areas are clear of pedestrians or objects.

You must register with ICBC. Depending on the country, you may be able to exchange your licence for a BC licence without taking tests, or you may be required to take the knowledge and/or road tests. We can help guide you through the process.
